Christmas Mini Sessions in Victoria, BC
Christmas mini sessions are always a favourite, and it’s easy to see why. Mini sessions are fun, Christmas is exciting, and when you put the two together, it’s almost guaranteed to be a wonderful experience, especially for kids.
Every year, I tell myself I’ll keep things simple because these are supposed to be mini sessions. Every year, I end up going a little overboard instead. I think it’s because I’m usually the biggest kid in the room when it comes to Christmas.
During the first weekend of November, I transform my Cordova Bay home studio into a festive winter wonderland. I create two different Christmas backdrops so families have a little variety to choose from.
One backdrop stays mostly the same each year. This gives returning families a sense of tradition, and children who come back year after year look forward to seeing their favourite Christmas setup again. The second backdrop is always based around classic white and red because those colours look beautiful on Christmas cards, but I add new details and seasonal elements each year to keep it fresh.
Christmas Magic, Fake Snow, and Family Fun
Some parents book Christmas mini sessions just for their children, while others decide to join in on the fun and chaos themselves. Both options are available when you book through the calendar, so you can choose the experience that works best for your family.
One of my favourite moments is watching children throw the fake snow and seeing the joy and delight in their eyes. There’s something so special about giving them permission to play, get a little messy, and fully enjoy the magic of the season.
I also love watching their intense concentration as they decorate the mini Christmas trees. They take their jobs very seriously, carefully choosing where each decoration should go.
But the very best moments are often the quiet ones, especially when siblings snuggle close and giggle together. As a mom, I know how precious those moments are. Getting that connection captured in a photograph is one of the reasons these sessions mean so much to me and hopefully to you as well.

Limited Christmas Mini Session Dates
Christmas mini sessions are only offered for one weekend because I need to return my Cordova Bay studio to its regular setup for newborn, family, and other photography sessions.
